Odor absorbers & air fresheners

You can get odors out of books and magazines.

If you have a book with odors such as smoke or musty smell and you  tried airing them out and you wondered how to get that book odor smell out of them?   Use a Fridge It cube odor absorber placed inside a plastic bag with the odor absorber and leave some air space in the bag and seal the bag for  gaining control of your book odor issue.

Fridge It absorbs the odors quickly.  If you do not want your other books or magazines to pick up the smell from the book you will need to isolate the book until the odor is removed. it will not work for books that are water damages and wet.  The books or magazines need to be dry when you attempt to use the odor absorber.

It is the same product that absorbs odors from refrigerators and freezers.  The activated carbon can absorb and trap the odors in any enclosed space with airflow,  just like it does a fridge.  Just as it works great for purses with odors or smells from music cases or guitar cases.  Anything that has an enclosed area that it can remove odor from.

If you cannot enclose the absorber in the object than place the object in a plastic bag and place the Fridge It odor absorber in with it and seal the bag. This works for any item with odor, or anything that may have picked up an odor you are having and issue with.

When odors are a nuisance, time to find out the where, what, how and who.

When odors become a nuisance, it is time to find out why.  Odor creates an early warning system that alerts the nose that something going on around you  is not right and begins to irritate your nose, sending signals to the brain and creates a pain point with odor. You then smell  the odor, think of it as something you need to fix, clean, or investigate.

There can be good odors such as a camp fire, or onions cooking, but in most cases, odors mean something needs to be cleaned or fixed. If you smell smoke you look for a fire, if you smell odors you look for the source.

The thing about odor is it is very persistent. It keeps bugging you until you do something about it.  Doing something often leads to a search on the Internet as you try to describe the odor to a search engine and seek a solutions. You would rather tell a computer your odor problem then your friends and family.

The first step is to identify “where” the odor is coming from.  The where can tell you many things about how to get rid of  the odor or bad stinky smell.  Is it fixed by simply  just throwing  a dirty diaper? Or is it more serious, like something stinks and it is coming from inside a wall or coming from your closet, kitchen, fridge, freezer, shoe rack or car?

Once you have identified the general area of the odor, that the “what” comes in.  What kind of odor is it?  Is it a smelly sneaker? Is it a cooked fish smell or a smelly carpet or a cat litter box? is it something you can smell put cannot see?

Once you know the what, then the question can be searched on “how” do I get rid of the specific odor? Or if you can get even more specific: How to I get rid of the odor in my refrigerator? Or even more specific in detail like, how do I get rid of the onion odor in my ice maker in the freezer. The more specific you can be the better the solution will be.

This leads to the “who” of odors.  Who should I trust and choose to fix my problem.  Is is a search that leads you to a  product like an odor absorber? What is the product about?  Is it environmentally friendly? Can it really fix the problem and keep it solved in the longterm. Read the label, is the product non toxic? Is it fragrance free or scented.  What are the warnings.

Do I need an air freshener spray that will fix the problem right now, or I need to call in someone who will do the job like a carpet cleaner or a mold specialist?

Yes ,odors are a nuisance and thank goodness they are, so in their own way odors help you.  They give you the heads up that you need to get rid of that odor or smelly problem right away. Happy odor web searching.

Summer is coming and so are the odors. Top summer odor problems

Summer  smells and odors go hand in hand.  Some really good smells, like the smell of flowers or crisp sea airbring joy and happiness. Others are the smells that turn into odors, like hot and oppressive heat and the odors that come with Summer that bring us to a pain point to find a way to get rid of the odor.  The higher the temperature and humidity the more people are looking for odor control with an odor absorber

Odors are a year round problem, but other than when there is a hurricane and the electricity is out, do we see such an increase in people buying odors absorbers and searching on the Internet for various solutions to their individual odor problems. Summer odor problems start in the middle of May and seems to go until mid Sept.

The top summer odor problems are:

1: Refrigerator odor.  The higher the temp the more the fridge has to work. Add to that the summer vegetables and take out foods and you have a ripe refrigerator needing odor control.

2: Sandal and sneaker odor.  Lets face it, you are outside running around, shopping or taking the kids to the park in bear feet, no socks with heat and humidity.  Odors just grow and grow, so use an odor absorber in each shoe at night.

3: Pet odor.  Pets is cages when the heat goes up, needs cleaning more often.  If that does not happen, odors will use a  Pet odor absorber to do the trick for pet odors.

4: Car odors: In summer you live in your car, you eat in your car, you go to the beach, you change in your car.  All that extra living sure adds to the odors coming from you car.  Either an odor absorber or an air freshener will work well to get rid of odor or cover the odor with a scent.

5: Boat, RV and camping ice chest odor. Ah, the great outdoors. There you are out in your boat, living in a RV and storing your food in ice chests.  Giving you the idea that you can escape to the great out doors, but you cannot escape  from vacation odors.  Sleeping blankets, tents, even the trash gets a little pungent. So stock up on a case of odor absorbers for those vacation needs. Also works great if you bring it along for airline luggage odor and hotel room smells.

So enjoy Summer while it is here and remember that odors can be controlled with odor absorbers.

Odor Control Tips

Let me begin by giving credit where credit is due. Virtually everything I’ve learned about controlling litter box order was obtained from people sharing information at Litter box Central (www.litterbox-central.com ). My notes here are for the most part simply a condensation from that source.

Here are several factors that contribute to litter box odor — and probably the largest single component is what goes in to your cat. The right cat food can make a huge difference between a miserably stinky environment and one that’s odor free. (Please take a few moments to read the Scoop Free section at Litter box Central for more on this topic).

Choice of Litter

The second biggest variable is in your choice of litter (see Recommended Litter).  After a lot of testing (totally by myself and friends, using our own noses) I’ve come to the conclusion that for the most part, the Fresh Step crystals work the best for me.  I emphasize for me, as some people may have problems with the scent used in this litter, etc.  But generally I’ve found this to be the best choice, with the highest odor-absorbing capability.

Activated Charcoal Odor Absorbers

Being the incessantly curious person that I am, I noticed that many of the litter companies have started advertising heavily around activated charcoal in their products. After some searching (and further experimentation), I found a pretty darned amazing product — Innofresh. I spent some time talking with them on the phone to learn more about their odor absorbers to learn as much as I could — but the real proof was when my wife noticed a significant further reduction in odors after I’d had a unit in my Scoop Free for a couple of days.

Now that was the critical test.  Pretty impressive.

I keep one stuck under the purple lid. It simply clips to one of the “vanes” that hold the magnet, and lasts about 3 months. I was so impressed I signed on as a product distributor, and now carry them here in a 4 pack for $14.00.  (It doesn’t make sense with shipping and all to just order one).

Here’s the info from Innofresh:

Innofresh™ PET Fragrance Free odor absorbers utilizes our patented activated carbon technology to eliminate odors and is completely fragrance free. No worry about irritating or harmful fragrances for your pets or yourself. Fragrances just cover up odors while Innofresh™ PET odor absorber traps and eliminates those lingering odors from your pets.

Our activated carbon odor absorbers work effectively against those tough litter box odors, as well as in areas where gerbils, pet mice, hermit crabs, ferrets or other small animals are kept. Just clip our odor absorber on to your cat litter box or even outside small animal cages to eliminate odors safely and effectively and without chemicals, gels, powders or sprays. Built in clip securely fastens to most litter boxes, and cages. Don’t settle for litter that claims to control odors. Eliminate them with Innofresh™ Pet activated carbon odor absorbers and to use Forever Litter Tray® (permanent replacement for Scoop Free® disposable cartridges)
.

Teachers search for solutions to classroom odor elimination

Odor in the class room and odor eliminators for classrooms are a highly searched topics.  Musty classroom, classroom stinks, How do I get rid of odor in my classroom? or Best Ways to make my classroom odor free?  Are all on the minds of teachers at this point in the school year on what kind of odor absorber is needed.

Place 30 students, one teacher a teachers aide and various class pets and you will have odor.  Many of the classroom as are carpeted with indoor outdoor style carper, which wears well, but does hold odor in its fibers. Books will have a musty smell from  humidity and age. In an effort to save money, classrooms may only be surfaced cleaned on a daily basis and heavy cleaned only once or twice a year.

Add students back packs that have been on the ground numerous times, muddy shoes, wet umbrellas, rain coats, boxes full of teach supplies also add to the odor issue.  So how do you get rid of the mustyschool room odor naturally, so you do not leave a scent that may bring on allergy issues for students, with odor absorbers that are fragrance free and non toxic and they cannot spill.  An average class room will be approx 20 x 40 and will need one odor absorber for every  6 x 6 area that needs odor elimination. Place then also near the trash and under the class room sink for added absorption. Pet cages need to have one or two depending on the pet and the back pack area needs to have several for odor absorbers.  I recommend Innofresh odor absorbers in wafer form for normal odor absorption and Fridge it odor absorbers for larger areas to get odors under control.
